A found super-8 film converted to digital media–a frame grabbed from that digital movie as it plays on a computer’s screen–that ‘abducted image’ then whisked off to Photoshop where it is subjected to a persistent interrogation. I am still suspect of Photoshop’s bravado but I have come to depend on its revelatory feats.
Here, it points me to a plant form creeping up from the picture’s frame, coming and going like a fuzzy detail of a forgotten dream. Its sinewy form acts as both trail and decoy to a longing we suddenly notice in a young man’s face.
